April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball athletes to win medals at least twice in an Olympics. Alix Klineman, taking part for the very first time in Tokyo's Olympics and will attempt to win her third gold medal. Ross's aim is to get her first Olympic Gold. It could be the last time she has the chance as she is 39 years old. Nevertheless she is confident that the top awards are in reach. If we perform at our very top or play well I feel like we'll win the gold medal Ross said via NBC Boston. "I'm also going to try some luck." Ross born in 1982 and was raised in Costa Mesa California with her mother and sister, first began competing in athletics at the Newport Harbor High School. The athletic pursuits she pursued began at Newport Harbor High School where she was a part of a number of activities. In addition to indoor volleyball, she ran track and basketball as a pre-collegiate athlete. In the last sport, she clearly stood out. During her high school career she played middle blocker, outside setter and hitter on the volleyball court per her college bio. Her efforts were recognized by her being named 1999 Gatorade's Circle Of Champions National Players of the Year. Her volleyball skills also brought her the Orange County Athlete of the Year award in the year 2000. Ross is currently playing alongside Klineman since the year 2017, but Ross's beach game was well-established long before that. In actual Ross has won a number of important tournaments throughout her career with two partners. One is a volleyball legend. She teamed up along with Jennifer Kessy from 2007-2013, and she also served as Klineman's personal trainer. Kessy was Ross's co-coach at the World Championships of 2009. This duo went into winning a silver at the 2012 Olympic Games at London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings, the team of legends who won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, beat their opponents to claim the gold. Ross Walsh was Walsh Jennings new partner after May-Treanor's departure. The team won bronze in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics 2016. In high school and the years before she hit the sand professionally, Ross balled out with the Trojans of USC as an NCAA. Ross had an impressive run through college. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year and an All-American. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans make it to the Final Four. She suffered a devastating personal loss in her sophomore year and yet she went on to repeat in the ranks of an All-American. Over the course of the two years she played for the Trojans they helped win consecutive championships. In 2003-2004, Ross was named the top female volleyball player on the collegiate scene in the United States through The Honda Sports Award. Ross majored at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross was never able to see her daughter reach the top of the beach volleyball ladder. Ross lost her mom to cancer of the breast in the year 2001. Ross was then a sophomore. But, she will always hold her lost parent near and close. Margie has been an inspiration in her life and on the beach.
