April Ross

April Ross has won more than one medal at the Olympics. Ross is among a few female beach volleyball players that have done so. In Tokyo in the coming days, she'll try to win her third gold medal alongside the first-time Olympian Alix Klineman. Ross's goal is to win her first Olympic gold medal. It may well be that this is her only opportunity, given that she is 39 years old. Still confident, however. If we perform at our very top or do well, I believe we'll be able to win that gold medal Ross declared on NBC Boston. Also, I'll take the opportunity to try my luck. Ross was born in the city of Costa Mesa, California in the year 1982. Her parents as well as her sister were residents there. Ross played in numerous activities while at Newport Harbor High School. As a pre-schooler she played the indoor game of volleyball, as well as basketball and track. In her final game she was clearly the standout. According to her bio, she was an outside blocker as well as a middle hitting volleyball player during her high-school career. The award was presented to her as by the Gatorade National Circle of Champions player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. The 2000 Orange County Athlete of the Month was also received by her due to her volleyball skills. Although Ross Klineman and Ross are a couple since 2017, the former was already an established athlete on the beach even before the pair formed. In fact, she won multiple major tournaments with two different partners, among them the volleyball legend. From 2007-2013 she played alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's partner on the World Championships in 2009. They were awarded a silver medal during the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. Misty May Treanor and Kerri Jennings the legendary team which won the 2012 Olympic Games in London, took each other to take home the gold medal. Ross Jennings was Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. The duo were able to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in 2016. Ross was a Trojans player for the USC during her college days, prior to becoming a professional. Her experience at USC was quite impressive. She was a All-American and Pac-10 Freshman of the Year when she was a teen freshman. In 2000, her Trojans also reached the Final Four. The second season of her career, she experienced a terrible personal loss, yet was able to be named an All-American. In her last two years she led the Trojans to the top of the mountain and clinched consecutive national championships. In her own way, she cemented her place in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. The award is given to the most outstanding female college volleyball players across the nation. Ross took a course in International Relations at USC. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, was never given the opportunity to see her daughter become a beach volleyball superstar. Ross's mother passed away from cancer of the breast in 2001. Ross had just become a second-year student at USC. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. In addition, Margie remains a source of encouragement for her on the beach and in life.
