April Ross
April Ross has won more than one Olympic gold medal. She is one of the few female players of beach volleyball to be able to do so. Alix Klineman has become a brand new Olympian who will be joining her at Tokyo. Ross hopes to win more than just her first Olympic medal. At 39, this could be her last chance to do so. However, she's confident that winning the gold medal is at hand. Ross, via NBC Boston, said that when the team performs well or at all it could be able to win gold. "I'm also going to try to have a bit of luck." Ross was born on the 22nd of October, 1982. She was raised in Costa Mesa California where she lived with her parents as well as a her sister. Ross was a competitive athlete in a variety of sports during her time at Newport Harbor High School. In her time as a college athlete she was also a participant in indoor track and volleyball. Though she excelled at indoor volleyball but it was apparent that her performance was above the average. In her own biography, during high school she played volleyball as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setter (outside blocker). She was named one of the Gatorade National Circle of Champions Player of the Year in 1999, for her performance. She also captured the award in 2000. Orange County Athlete of the Year trophy for volleyball. Ross and Klineman are performing their roles in the year 2017. However, Ross was an important player on the beach volleyball circuit prior to the pair. In reality, she was a winner of numerous major events with two different partners, one of whom is an icon of volleyball. Jennifer Kessy was her partner for six years, from 2007 until 2013. She also coached Klineman and herself. Together together with Kessy Ross was awarded an Olympic Title in 2009, while racing on the international circuit. In 2012, the duo took silver in London's Olympic Games. They were beaten out for the gold by the legendary group comprising Misty and Kerri Walsh (Jennings). Ross Jennings became Walsh Jennings partner in fate as Maytreanor resigned. The duo went on to earn bronze in beach volleyball at the Rio Olympics in the year 2016. Ross played for the USC Trojans in college after graduating from in high school. The Trojans had a great run for Ross at the college level. In 2000, she was named Pac-10 Freshman as well as NCAA Freshman Of The Year. She was also named an All-American. Also, she was a key player in helping the Trojans reach the Final Four. The Trojans suffered a heartbreaking personal loss during her sophomore year however she was able to return her place as an All-American. In her last two years in the Trojans program, she coached the Trojans to winning a national title every year. She was a great volleyball player and won the Honda Sports Award in 2003-04 as the best female volleyball player at the college level. Ross was a student at USC in International Relations. Margie Ross, Ross' mother, never had the chance to watch her daughter become a beach volleyball superstar. When Ross was a sophomore studying at USC her mother died of breast cancer. She continues to cherish her parents who passed away. Margie has inspired her both in her personal life and at the beach.
